Schulte Recaps Agenda for Congressional Term
Underlying all goals is to bring a return of fiscal responsibility to Congress and bring about greater efficiencies and common sense to the Federal Government. "Raising taxes for most all Americans would be a last resort. The savings we would realize as a nation by altering our basic budgetary requirements and processes may even result in yet further tax cuts for most." more...
Schulte's Fiscal Plans to Help Iowans
Sensibility regarding our common good needs to be restored in Congress. I have more in common with the person at the check out counter than I do in the CEO of the company they work for.
That cashier is my neighbor, my friend, my fellow Iowan.
I want to stress that taxes do not need to be raised to accomplish these basic goals. I want to first look at creating or strengthening efficiencies in government, working with budgetary processes, and cutting the needless and wasteful bills put forth by the Republican majority over the past few years. more...
National Security
Security is insufficient for this nation.
Our borders, ports and airports are very full of gaps in security. We know that people and items of suspicion continue to slip by security agents at the airport gates. An unsettling percentage of cargo on commercial airliners goes unscreened, and five years since 9/11 the rate of cargo screened at our ports is woeful.
We need a dynamic active duty military that can respond to combat needs, and a Guard and Reserve force that can support the active duty forces without jeopardizing our needs at home. more...
Schulte's Work Helps Agriculture and the Environment
"Farmers are inherently the best stewards of the land because they depend on its health," says Schulte, "More needs to be done to help them succeed in business now and into the future. This loan package lets them do just that."
"I believe that not only is this the fiscally responsible way to handle the needs of our farmers; by preserving our environment, it makes sense for ALL of us." Schulte continues, "I am proud of my work on this and all of the work of the entire board since I've been a member the past few years."
Schulte says she will carry these same values to Congress to represent the people of Western Iowa. Schulte adds, "This is a great example of the type of synergistic policy that I've heard Iowans call for now for years. With my representation, those voices will be heard."

Schulte Talks Straight About Fiscal Responsibility
It is obvious that the Republicans have forfeited their credibility when it comes to spending restraint.
Members of Congress must lead with prudence, good practice, and thoughtful actions.

Immigration
Currently we still have no advance in our national immigration policy. The bill passed in late October is completely unfunded, and has an estimated range of 4 Billion dollars. We are overdue for considerate thinking and deliberate actions on this issue.
As I consider the current immigration law and its impact on all concerned, I have come to the following conclusions:
- National security and immigration policy must be separated.
- The security of our nation must be paramount when considering how to control our borders.
- Immigration policy is much more complex than can be reduced to a few sound-bites or slogans.
Schulte Notes Republican's Fiscal Irresponsibility
Fiscal responsibility means that we honor those that deserve it and repay those who have made us what we are. It means maintaining the long view for our children and the nation they will inherit. more...

Restore Iowa Quality to the US Congress 5th District
Welcome to the newly redesigned Schulte For Congress web site. We will be continuing to add to the site to try to meet your needs as a concerned citizen for the 5th Congressional District in Iowa. As we know that Congressional representation should truly mean representing the consituents of the District, we welcome all thoughts and concerns.
We have heard you over the past couple of years and know what you want to restore Iowa Quality to the U.S. 5th District seat. We know that this means holding true to the values and beliefs that have made America the greatest country in history. We know that this means altering viewpoints on positions based on tested facts, reliable figures and overwhelming sentiment, rather than switching positions based on audience or monetary influence. more...
We will work for you
Thank you to every voter in the great 5th District. The people who vote own the final power in this country.
People often ask, “Why do you run for political office?” My answer encompasses the tremendous issues that need attention, that our government is off-track, and that the current office holder is not truly representing the good people in western Iowa.
Then my answer gets very personal. I know, first hand, that government can help, as well as hinder, the daily life of our citizens. I know what education loans mean. I know what physical pain or mental pain means when you do, or do not, have insurance. I know what it feels like when your child goes off to defending this country. I know what it means when you, or someone in your family, cannot find a job, or when the need of a 2nd job is finally recognized.
Life has a way of getting Real for most of us.
I know what it means to work vigorously day after day. In addition, I respect people.
Now we gear up and go forward toward the November Victory. We open this campaign to the entire population in western Iowa and invite everyone to get acquainted and involved.
I look forward to the real work in Congress. more...
Convention Speech
I am the Democrat from the Great 5th District, and it is my honor and delight to run for Congress against Steve King.
My opponent, and this Congress, has worked on the job less than any Congress since 1948. Harry S. Truman called that 1948 Congress the “Do-Nothing-Congress.”
This Congress, while being lazy on the job, has thrown away your treasure, has given you an unwarranted war, has given every unborn and existing child a mountain of debt, and has tried to eliminate hundreds of educational programs. This Congress has simply rubber stamped an indifferent administration. more...
